Leave headroom for processing

A peak target below 0 dBFS leaves room for later EQ, compression, summing, or encoding. Pushing every file to 0 dBFS can make downstream work less forgiving.

Know what RMS does not measure

RMS is an average energy reference, not LUFS and not a complete perception model. Different arrangements can feel different at the same RMS value.

Normalization changes level but does not remove clipping already present, repair distortion, balance sections, or replace a limiter. Check the WAV in the context where it will be used.
